overheard on the el

So I was listening to two men on the train (who knew each other) greet each other and start discussing the tragic death of a seven-year-old girl who got shot in the head while riding her scooter down the sidewalk.

The men started by saying how awful this was. That's normal. Right? Right.

But then they went on to say that, "Shooting no seven-year-old doesn't make you a gangster."

And the other man agreed. He continued, "You can't just be across the street and closing your eyes and pullin' the trigger. You gotta go up to that fool and shoot him."

The other man added, "In my day, you went up to a man's house to kill him."

That's right. They had zero problem with the fact that people were shooting each other, just problems in the manner in which they did it.

I love this city??
