I have been spoiled. For the last three years I have worked pretty much exclusively at an all women spa. Only women work there. Only women can be clients there. And this has been great. Except that I have apparently forgotten how to work on men.
I don't particularly like working on men because there is a whole weird dynamic there. Even if they aren't being creepy or aren't interested in me, there is still just a different vibe going on.
So yesterday I worked on a young man and it went okay but there was one main snag. I've forgotten how to deal with body hair! It's never been easy to work on body hair. I remember back in the day I used to hate having to do it. Not because I hate body hair, just because it makes my job harder. But I seriously do not remember how to work on hairy legs. I feel like I am just constantly pulling their hair. No good. No good at all.
I wonder if there are any continuing education classes I can take like "How to deal with hairy clients"? I somehow doubt it.

sadness
God, I am miserable right now.
You know how there are times in your life when you've got it all together? Uh-huh.
And then there are days like today.
And I know it is all mental because really my life hasn't changed much since two weeks ago when I was feeling great.
So I should be able to just shift right back to happy, perky mode, right? Right?
It's hard when you take the one thing that you hate about yourself and have a loved one basically tell you that they hate you for that reason. It is hard to feel good about yourself after that. (Though I suppose it would be harder if they hated you for something that you loved about yourself. At least this way you are in agreement about why you suck.)
But do you know what amazes me? How if I wasn't blogging about this, you would never even know. I pull my shit together and I go out in the world and give you a smile and do my job.
It makes me wonder just how many other people I see are doing the same thing? Is the woman sitting next to me on the train, who is quietly reading her book, really thinking about how she wants to take a baseball bat to her ex-boyfriend's car or something?
I guess my point is that we shouldn't judge things by appearances, because while that woman might be having one of those times where everything in her life is going great, she also might be miserable and might just be putting a brave face on for the world to see.

religions are all the same
My thought for the day is that all religions are the same and are just repackaged in different ways.
Sometimes I like to make bold general statements like that just to piss people off.
I was just thinking about all the similarities between witchcraft/ pagan religions and Catholicism.
In witchcraft you have initiation where you get anointed.
In Catholicism you have baptism where you get anointed.
In witchcraft you use candles and incense and singing when you worship.
Same for Catholicism.
In witchcraft you pray to the Mother Goddess.
In Catholicism you pray to the Virgin Mary (mother of Christ.)
A lot of the timing for the holidays are the same. Like Christmas is right around the Winter Solstice.
They both have sacred objects (or special, at least, if they aren't sacred) like a chalice.
I don't know about witchcraft enough to say this for sure, but I know that in Reiki (energy work) there are certain hand signs that you do (for power, for protection, etc.)
Catholics do the sign of the cross and a few other movements.
I just find it interesting, is all.

facebook posts
I'm going to go ahead and admit it... days like today where every other post on facebook is about how someone didn't get any sleep because their child is up with an ear infection or whatever, kind of make me happy.
Not really happy, I don't wish harm on anyone, but yeah, sort of happy in a "ha-ha, I don't have to deal with that!" sort of way.
And if that makes me evil... well, that comes as no surprise to anyone.

boobs
My friend and I were having an interesting conversation the other day. She was talking about someone she knows who has no boobs. They just never grew. And that person has decided to get a boob job. She asked me what size cup I would get if I were in her situation. I responded "C." And she says, "Thank you! That's what I said!" Apparently the other people she had discussed it with had given other answers.
I responded, "Oh no, I definitely wouldn't go bigger than C." And she informed me that the other people had actually said "B" not "D."
Hmmmph? I wasn't expecting that.
I guess if you have NOTHING and you go up to a B cup, that would seem like a really big change. I, personally, fluctuate between a B and a C and I'm really happy when I'm a C. Most people I know who are D or bigger complain about their boobs.
I guess it also depends on the size of the person.
I don't think there is a right or wrong answer, I just expected that every woman would want at least a C cup. Interesting. What do you think? You can vote on the sidebar thingy.

sleep
Sleep is amazing. It might be my favorite thing to do in the whole world. Especially because now that I am not eating meat, I no longer have heart-thumping, terrifying nightmares. I did, kind of, have a bad dream last night but it didn't even bother me.
So yes, dreams are amazing.
But so is just sleeping. I work stuff out in my sleep. I've always known this.
Last night before I went to bed I was sitting in bed with my notebook and I was writing down questions to do with the plot of my novel. I have two different story lines and I wasn't sure which one I should really focus on. And then I went to bed and I woke up in the middle of the night with the answer on how to perfectly merge the two story lines together!
It is almost like little magical fairies come and give me the answers.
I love sleep.

healthy eatin'
Well, hellllooooo Smart Start Strong Heart healthy cereal! You are delicious! Who knew? Much better than that Fiber One crap I tried to eat.
Yum. Yum. Double Yum!
On a side note, before this whole heart attack fiasco, my mom had been trying to lose weight. She promised herself that if she got down to below 150 that she would get to have a chocolate malt. Now she weighs 147 and she's not allowed to have a chocolate malt! So sad!
