Do you know what else I love?
Minnesotans.
They are just good people.
Who know how to drink.
I love seeing friends be brave and take on new and exciting and scary challenges! Quit your job! Be your own boss! Rock on!
I love giving presents that people really like.
I love macaroons from Vanille.
I love that tomorrow is the start of my birthday month.
I love that I only have three more days until I am on vacation AGAIN!
I love that my mom believes in me.
I love meeting new people and slowly peeling away the layers as I get to know them.

blogalicious
Do you know what I love about blogs? They are a tiny little window into a person's mind. Because it isn't something that they are forced to write. And it isn't them responded to a question. It is just someone writing whatever happens to be on their mind at that moment. In that way it is a lot more interesting and real than even getting an email from the person. An email is written with a specific person in mind and is geared towards them. I obviously write emails to my grandma and to my best friend very differently.
And there is a freedom in writing blogs. You can talk about whatever you want because nobody is FORCED to read it. You don't worry about annoying your friends and clogging up their facebook homepage. You can just ramble away.
I love pretty much everything about blogs.
Blogs. Blogs. Blogs.
Blogs make me happy.

making the move
Do you know why I'm glad I'm not a guy? Because I don't want to have to be the one to make the first move. That can't be easy.
And I think that is why there is a lot of confusion when it comes to beginning relationships. It's a lot easier to say, "Hey, do you want to hang out sometime?" rather than, "Would you like to go on a date with me?"
No wonder people then are wondering, "Does that person really like me? Are we just friends who are hanging out? Or are we something more?"
And then comes the pressure of making the first move. I miss the good ol' days of drunken college parties. Dance close to a boy all night and seven or eight beers in he is finally going to A) pick up on the hints that he should kiss you or B) be filled with liquid courage and forget that there is even a chance that you might not want to kiss him.
But can you imagine anything more awkward and painful then going in to try and kiss someone and getting rejected? Who wants to set themselves up for that kind of rejection?
I don't know anybody that has actually happened to. Do you? Which means that really we are afraid of something that most likely isn't going to happen.
So why, if it isn't all that scary, and the actual possibility of getting rejected is so low, don't I make the first move?
Well, quite frankly, because I don't want to. I want to be with a boy who is crazy about me and who wants to kiss me so badly that he can't stand it. Is that so much to ask? Perhaps my old-fashionedness will be my downfall. I could use a little kissing.
As Rhett Butler said, "No, I don't think I will kiss you, although you need kissing, badly. That's what's wrong with you. You should be kissed and often, and by someone who knows how. "

those crazy Brazilians!
Am I the last one to hear about this new Brazilian dance craze? It is called "Surra de Bundan" and it involves a man sitting on the floor with his legs out in front of him. A woman dances around him for a little bit and then basically gets into a push up position with her hands on his ankles and her ankles up on his shoulders. She then proceeds to slam her ass into his face.
WHAT?!?! It actually looks like a hell of a workout for the girl and sort of painful for the guy.
Back in my day we had the Butterfly and the Tootsie Roll which were forbidden at school dances! I can only imagine if someone had tried to bust out with this!

so wrong
Do you ever just get a song stuck in your head? And it won't go away? And have you ever noticed that for some reason this never happens with GOOD songs?
I just realized that I have been humming the song "YMCA" out loud as I was reading things on the internet this morning.
Please, leave my head! I'll even get up and do the damn dance if you will just promise to get out of my head!

break-ups
Break-ups are really hard. It's been awhile since I've had one but last night made me think about it.
Why are break-ups so hard? First of all, they are scary. You might not be perfectly happy in your relationship but there is still comfort in it. When you break-up you get flung back out into the unknown. There is the fear that you will not find someone new. There is the fear that you will be alone. Forever. Which, while you sanely know that won't be the case, it is still a fear at the back of your mind.
As my life coach once said to me when I was really upset about a break-up, "It isn't just the end of a relationship, it's the end of a dream." You have all sorts of plans and hopes that go along with a relationship. You have this vision of a life that you will have together and it can be hard to give up that dream (no matter what the actual reality of the relationship is.)
And I think one of the hardest parts of break-ups for me is that you aren't just breaking up with the boy, you are breaking up with his friends and family as well. Which doesn't always have to be the case, but usually is.
Last night I got to hang out with Beanie and Maggie, two of my ex-boyfriend's sisters. I love them. I don't love them because they are my ex's sisters. I love them because they are funny and amazing people. Whom I never get to hang out with anymore. It is sad when I hear about these events and parties that I no longer get invited to (like their babies' christenings) that I would have totally been invited to if I was still dating their brother. I'm not really complaining. I think family should trump friends. But I'm just saying that for me, that is the hardest part about break-ups.

bummer
So I did NOT make it into the finals for the "Month at the Museum" competition that the Museum of Science and Industry had. They are choosing one lucky person to spend 30 days (and nights) inside the Museum and blog about it. My dreams of living in a museum (well, legally, at least) have been dashed!
